James Michael Mniko currently a Judge Legal Assistant, Court of Appeal of Tanzania. He is a dynamic and results-driven legal professional with a rich background in law and administration. Currently serving at the Court of Appeal of Tanzania, he previously honed his skills at the High Court of Tanzania (Arusha Sub-registry) and as a Resident Magistrate at Maji ya Chai and Ulyankulu Primary Courts.
Before joining the Judiciary, he held key roles, Head of Legal Department, Lax Spacer International Ltd; Legal Officer, Ardean Law Chambers; Domestic Long-Term Observer (LHRC/European Union) and Mabere Marando & Mnyere Co. Advocates.
Regarding his education, he is a holder of Master of Laws (LLM.) in Procedural Laws & International Legal Practice, University of Dar es Salaam (with distinction); Post Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the Law School of Tanzania; Bachelor of Laws (LLB), Tumaini University (with distinction). He emerged as Overall Best Student Performer in LL. B (Hons) in undergraduate, and first Class in LLM (Hons).
A multidisciplinary talent, Mniko is a novelist, poet, and a creative thinker with experience across institutions
From 15th April 2025 she was elected as a Secretary General of Tanzania Magistrates and Judges Association (TMJA).
